Street Light Serenade: Studio Shoot
I was contacted by lead guitarist of the band Street Light Serenade to undertake some promotional band photos for use on their Facebook page. He explained he wanted a mixture of studio and evening location shoots which ranged from classic poses to use of props.
For this shoot I used a Canon 5D and a simple and basic studio sent up. This was done using the white background and backlights to make the crisp background and front flash lights to light the band members who were positioned in different orders and places throughout.
We experimented with props such as their own instruments (e.g.. guitars), as well as a coloured deck chair. We also used a number of different coloured gels to cover a tungsten light to get different tints on the image.
One of the issues I had during this shoot was that because of the size of the band, the were issues fitting them all onto the background. This was over come by moving taller member behind others or asking them to angle their bodies.
Another issue was getting them to relax while being photographed, however, they all gained in confidence as time went on and began bouncing ideas off of each other making the experience fun as well as getting better and more interesting images with their personalities.
In the end they also asked for a gag reel of images which was handed over eagerly.
